personality |
Rohan Kishibe can be characterized primarily by his utter devotion to his art; nearly everything he does is in the pursuit of becoming more proficient, prolific, and professional as a manga artist. Rohan has a particular interest in ideas and experiences he perceives to be "real", authentic, striking occurrences that he can use as material for his works. This eternal seeking for extraordinary circumstance has led to Rohan having a love for the visceral and even to appreciate unpleasantness as long as it is not droll or unoriginal. Rohan's eccentric tendencies become obvious very quickly, as he tends to not be abashed at all about his personal peculiarities, such as his tendency to do whatever he perceives to be necessary to comprehend as an artist, including eating bugs and injuring himself. Despite his off-kilter personality, Rohan is shockingly realistic and down-to-earth (except for when it concerns himself), and has a good understanding about what the common man will think, understand, and enjoy. His unbridled success as an artist and easy, commanding charisma give him a very assertive and self-assured personality, though he does appear to appreciate humble people and humility. Rohan has a profound desire to understand and a very blithe outlook, so he tends to be very likable, if a bit off-putting and overbearing. First Impressions: Rohan gives the impression of the typical auteur artist, very cultured, well-spoken, intelligent. His weirdness comes out if you talk to him for longer than a few sentences. Likes: Originality, penmanship, cleanliness, interesting people, humility, himself, tea, sweet food, saying "I refuse" and his own name. Dislikes: Being questioned, hotheaded people, cocky people, stupid people, base people, boring experiences. Quirks: Has a tendency to say his own name a lot. Will do almost anything if he thinks he needs to understand the consequences of doing so viscerally.
history | Rohan Kishibe grew up the only son of a poor Scandinavian migrant and his young Japanese wife, who constantly shifted from place to place due to a fluctuating Japanese economy after the end of the second world war. Rohan never complained; the boisterous nature of his family kept his childhood interesting and the often relocation of atmosphere gave him a broad understanding on the natures of others. When he was around 4 years old, his parents lent him to their trusted family friends, the Sugimotos, for a few evenings while they sought work near to the remote, rural town of Morioh. At this point a young girl named Reimi smuggled him out of her room, saving his life from the serial killer known as Yoshikage Kira, who would eventually slay her and her entire family. He held no memory of this event until much later in life. Due to his mixed blood there was often initial bullying in places he arrived at, but Rohan's unflagging personality, high marks, and obvious charisma allowed him to transition easily from classroom monkey to classroom king within a few weeks. Popularity, he found, held little interest to him. The authenticity of the experience soon became dull and monotonous. Art became his sole passion, and his quick, nimble, and precise fingers made it a natural task. Influencing or controlling others was never his passion, but entertaining them he found pleasing, though rarely on a personal level. He found he enjoyed it most when the fruits of his early labors found the hands of his classmates and he could safely observe their jaw-slackened reactions. Feeling no desire for the lauds or status graduating would provide, Rohan soon dropped out of school and devoted himself entirely to his work, becoming an accomplished manga artist within only a year, an unprecedented genius appreciated by all. He developed peculiar techniques for filling in beta and backgrounds, and soon gained enough of a fortune to finance his slightly introverted lifestyle. Seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of the city where he'd achieved his success, Rohan set out for his hometown of Morioh to live a fruitful life doing the sole thing he loved; Making a manga others would read. Soon after he settled down he was given a strange power from a mysterious arrow; that of Heaven's Door, a stand allowing him to both read the entirety of pertinent information on an individual but alter it as well, provided only they looked at his manuscript. Rohan made minor use of his power in order to glean material for his manga, but never understood the full nature of it until he met Koichi Hirose and his friend, and after a confrontation with their group became very fascinated with the power as well as Koichi himself. After becoming embroiled in the investigation of the serial killings in Morioh, Rohan settled back into his nomadic lifestyle and began travelling, seeking anew the fascinating, bizarre adventures that would fuel his passions. |
skills & misc. |
DETAILS ABOUT SKILLS, WEAPONS, ITEMS & ROOMS MAY GO HERE Skills: 「HEAVEN'S DOOR!」: Heaven's Door is a stand possessing the short-ranged ability to transmute people into "human books", with written pages unfurling from their bodies. These pages relate detailed information about that person, including biological characteristics, history, personality, or even details of their Stand and its abilities. Rohan is also capable of altering this information to anything he wishes very quickly, including compelling others not to attack him, blowing them backward, or commanding them to forget seeing its powers.
Draftsmanship: Rohan is an exceptionally talented draftsman, capable if he chooses of finishing manga pages of quality at superhuman speed. He can draw competently without construction lines and shade precisely simply by throwing ink drops with his pen. Such is his speed that he is able to do 19 pages in four days, a feat he can easily surpass, as is noted when he still can meet the deadline for his manga during Made In Heaven's accelerated time; Where time has hastened to the point that ink can dry before it gets to the paper.
Precision: Rohan was precise enough to instantly throw half a dozen metal pen caps with such pinpoint accuracy they pierced Josuke's skin from across a large room.
